Conference Watch: MR in the Mobile World

Written By: Diane Wagner
Dateline: Cincinnati July 18-19, 2012

I have a confession: One of my absolute favorite things about the Market Research Industry is the Conferences!  I love ‘em … TMRE, MRA, CASRO … you name it, I’m into it.  While I have to say that “conference” food seems consistently, umm, how to say, lacking, I always end up enjoying the networking, the speakers and seeing new cities.  So, when my colleague, Rie, told me she’d love to go together to the MR in the Mobile World Conference, July 18 – 19 in Cincinnati, I was psyched.

Based on this video about what past attendees have liked, I’m sure there will be meaningful new discoveries for me there …

But, first, let’s talk Networking – whoa, look who’s attending!  This alone is worth going for.

There should be a lot of good stuff at MRMW which will include four modules:
  1. How New Technologies are Transforming the Insight Function;
  2. Validation & Use Cases;
  3. The Research Industry’s Threats and Opportunities; and
  4. The Road Ahead: MR in 2020.

In terms of speakers, several who have caught my eye, including:

  • “Driving Mobile Change – How Chrysler Took its Research to the Driver’s Seat” by Scott Slagle, Head of Consumer Insights at Chrysler Group;
  • “Mobile Research in Africa” by Shirley Wakefield of Pondering Panda;
  • “The Evolution of the 360 Degree Mobile Community”  by AJ Johnson of BrainJuicer;
  • “Capturing the Customer Experience in the Mobile World” by Justin Wheeler and Allen Vartazarian of Usamp; and
  • “Confessions of a Tracking Addict” by Bernie Malinoff of Element 54.

So, while I must say that I’m not thrilled about being in Cincinnati in the MIDDLE OF SUMMER (Hello Bad Hair), I’m still looking forward to the sure-to-be-rich experience that will be MRMW.  Be sure to look for our live tweeting from @DianeTweeting and @ree_na (using #mrmw), let us know if you’ll be there and stay tuned for a future post on what we learned while there.
